They are able to:
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for people with long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, INR* clinics and carry out cervical smears.
Phlebotomists take blood samples which are sent away for analysis.
Other support staff include receptionists and secretaries. We are all here to help you. When telephoning for medical attention the receptionist may ask for a few details. They have been trained to make these enquiries so that we may help you in the most appropriate way.
All staff are aware of the need for confidentiality at all times in compliance with Caldicott rules.
Our health visitors are based at Goldsworth Park Health Centre, where they hold regular baby clinics and offer general advice. They may be contacted on 01483 728201 Ext 259.
