Health Checks

An NHS Health Check is a free check for adults in England aged between 40 and 74 and it checks your vascular or circulatory health. It works out your risk of developing the following conditions: heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and some forms of dementia.

These conditions can often be prevented and the NHS Health Check allows for personalised advice to be given on how to reduce your risk of developing these health problems.

You will get an overall score of your risk of developing these health problems, but your NHS Health Check results should also be broken down for you into:

  • your BMI (based on your height and your weight)

  • your cholesterol level (based on your blood test results)

  • your blood pressure (based on your test results)

  • your alcohol use score (based on your answers to questions)

The healthcare professional who does your NHS Health Check will explain these to you and you will also be given your results in writing.

You'll be invited for an NHS Health Check every five years if you are between 40 and 74 years old, as long as you don't have an existing vascular condition.

If you would like to book a NHS Health Check appointment with us - please contact reception.
