Our 2017 Charity Events

This summer we are taking part in 2 charity events and hope to raise £10,000 to buy much needed medical equipment that the NHS can't fund.

The Hillview Medical Centre South Downs Way Cycle Challenge 2017.

*updated 20th August*

Staff at Hillview Medical Centre have completed their most difficult challenge yet.

Their 'Cycle Team' had originally hoped to cycle the entire 100 miles of the South Downs Way as a relay in under 14 hours.

Starting at Winchester at 6am on August 12th they climbed over 3,800 metres  of hills and, despite several setbacks, the final leg reached Beachy Head at 8.45pm. The challenge took 14 hours and 45 minutes.

Several unforeseen problems slowed them down including 'getting lost', 'falling off', 'suffering from dehydration' and 'being chased by angry cows'.

Thank you to those who have already sponsored us.

The Nuts Challenge.

Our second charity challenge is the Nuts Challenge. Trustee Gennie Dearman will be attempting this '100 extreme obstacle' military style assault course on September 2nd.

If you would like to sponsor either Gennie or the Hillview Cycle team please follow the links below or sponsor them directly at Hillview or Goldsworth Park Health Centre reception.

Thank you for your support.

Dr Henry Knights

I would like to sponsor the Hillview Cycle Team.

Please do support our challenge - it will mean that we can buy equipment to help all of our patients!

Background to the charity

Following the many requests from patients to give donations for medical equipment to aid patient care and services, the Hillview Surgery Charitable Trust was set up, charity number 1056914.

The charity is overseen by the trustees; Dee Wilkinson, Andrew Freeman, Dr Peter Smith and Gennie Dearman. The Charity is separate to the practice and the trustees ensure that funds are used to provide additional services, equipment and experience that the NHS cannot provide.

Any donation, however small, is most welcome. Please ask at reception for details of how you can donate or become involved in the charity - or email us on hillview.surgery@nhs.net.

For many years until his recent death - Keith Smith was also an invaluable trustee for the charity. Keith put lots of his time into supporting the charity and was always a positive and enthusiastic participant. We would like to express our condolences to Keith's family. We will all miss him.
