Information for GP Registrars

Hillview Medical Centre is a spacious, modern surgery built in 1997 in central Woking, adjacent to Woking Community Hospital, and close to Woking main-line station and the Peacocks shopping centre. The practice has five partners and a part-time assistant, and covers a population of approximately 12,148 patients.

We have been a registered charity since 1996. The Hillview Charitable Trust, thanks to the wonderful generosity of many of our patients, has funded the purchase of many items of medical equipment not normally available through the NHS. We have been an approved Training Practice since 1990 and Dr D Shiel has been an approved trainer since 1999. Dr K Bulmer is currently in the process of becoming a GP trainer.

The building has seven consulting rooms (including a dedicated registrar room), two treatment rooms and a large waiting area, together with all the administrative and office space associated with a large practice. Upstairs is a large meeting room with TV/Video facilities. We also accommodate a private physiotherapy and sports injury clinic, together with a private child psychiatrist.

We provide the usual in-house services such as diabetes, asthma, immunisation, travel, minor surgery and family planning clinics.

The partners have a wide range of clinical interests, including hospital appointments, MSK joint injections and alternative medicine. We are actively involved with North West Surrey Clinical Commissioning group and Dr D Shiel sits on the Governing Body and is the head for Woking Locality.

In addition to their in-house teaching, GP Registrars attend the Chertsey day release course, which meets weekly at the postgraduate centre at St Peters Hospital Chertsey during term time.

Here at Hillview we pride ourselves in providing, a friendly and supportive educational setting for GP training in first-class surroundings.
